Description

Among the Côte de Beaune’s most emblematic crus, the Puligny Montrachet 2023 - Domaine Louis Jadot unfolds a luminous score where mineral precision meets a silky texture. Made exclusively from Chardonnay and rooted in the Puligny-Montrachet AOC, it draws its verticality from very stony clay and limestone marl soils with natural drainage that concentrate the vine’s sap and sculpt the aromatic expression. The house presents a white wine conceived for ageing, produced under a commitment to sustainable viticulture, hand-harvested with careful selection. Oak barrel fermentation, without artificial temperature control, and a partially conducted malolactic fermentation depending on the vintage’s balance, preserve the fruit’s energy and crystalline drive. Aged in part in French oak, lightly fined and filtered, this Puligny favours purity, nuance and structure, in the spirit of fine wines meant for the table as much as for contemplation.

Assemblage et vinification

This dry Burgundy white is made from Chardonnay hand-picked within the Puligny-Montrachet village appellation. Bunches are sorted in the vineyard and gently pressed to extract a clear, precise must. Fermentation in oak barrels, without artificial thermal control, accompanies the natural development of aromas while preserving freshness. Depending on the vintage profile, only a portion of the malolactic fermentation is carried out, ensuring a nervy structure and salivating tension. Partial ageing in French oak barrels, followed by light fining and filtration, aim to preserve the wine’s aromatic integrity, delicate texture and complexity without masking the terroir’s character.

Notes de dégustation

  • Appearance : Bright pale gold, clear and luminous, announcing a pure and expressive substance.
  • Nose : A profile of citrus and white fruit, accented by subtle notes of vanilla, gunflint and damp limestone. Floral hints emerge with aeration and, according to Vinous, a discreet vegetal thread suggesting green pepper.
  • Palate : Gentle attack, soft texture and precise length. Fine, taut acidity carries a straight backbone; the finish is long, with lemony nuances, white flowers and an appetising salinity.

Température de service et conseils

Serve this Puligny-Montrachet between 10 and 12 °C in tulip-shaped white wine glasses to showcase the citrus, stony notes and delicate oak patina. A short decant or opening the bottle around twenty minutes before serving allows the wine to open up without compromising its freshness. Store bottles on their side, away from light, in a cool, stable cellar. The 2023 vintage has a several-years ageing potential, evolving towards dried fruit, light honey and beeswax nuances while retaining its mineral thread.

Accords mets et vin

  • Fine fish : sea bass, turbot, sole meunière, whose finesse is enhanced by the wine’s uprightness.
  • Shellfish : lobster, langoustines, pan-seared scallops, which converse with the caressing texture and saline finish.
  • Creamy poultry dishes : free-range poultry with a light cream sauce, morels, reduced jus, for a subtle harmony of creaminess and tension.
  • Seafood risottos : seafood or lemon risotto, whose creamy texture calls for the Chardonnay’s brightness.
  • Hard cheeses : aged Comté and Beaufort, served at room temperature, for a noble and lingering match.

Moments de dégustation

The Puligny Montrachet 2023 from Domaine Louis Jadot presents itself with flair at a gastronomic dinner, in a seafood-focused menu, during an elegant tête-à-tête or to honour a table of discerning guests. It also suits the collector’s moments, when one wishes to measure the grace of a legendary terroir in a precisely written vintage.

  • To highlight an iodine-rich menu where every saline note answers the dish.
  • At a festive dinner where delicacy and depth are sought without heaviness.
  • As a choice gift for a lover of great Burgundy whites.
