Description

Mosaic of terroirs with a strong identity, the Gevrey-Chambertin Dix Climats 2023 from Domaine Drouhin-Laroze showcases the grace of a Pinot Noir shaped by the Côte de Nuits. Drawing its nobility from ten complementary plots, this cuvée captures Gevrey’s distinctive aesthetic, balancing savory amplitude with mineral uprightness. The 2023 vintage, marked by balanced conditions, encouraged luminous ripeness and precise freshness, producing a wine with exemplary aromatic clarity. If you are looking for a red that combines refinement and accessibility, able to enhance a gastronomic table as well as an elegant shared moment, this edition offers clean fruit, rounded tannins and a vibrant length, all supported by meticulous ageing that respects the grape’s expression. Its signature appeals to lovers of racé Burgundy seeking a pure, elegant and persistent style where terroir speaks without ostentation and with rare attention to detail.

Assemblage et vinification

Made exclusively from Pinot Noir, this Gevrey-Chambertin comes from a blend of ten plots located on clay-limestone soils of the Côte de Nuits. Eight of them, owned by the domaine, form the historic framework of the cuvée, notably En Combe, En Champs, En Vignes Belles, Croix des Champs, En Jouise, En Pallud, Aux Mairchais and Aux Epointures. This geological and exposure diversity weaves a textured, nervy substance where bright fruit meets mineral footing. The wine is aged in one-wine oak barrels, mainly from Allier and Nivernais, with medium to medium-plus toasts chosen to highlight the aromatic range without overpowering it. Vinification favors infusion over extraction to preserve the delicate tannin lace and the clarity of the aromas. After this patient orchestration, 2023 delivers a pure, silky and tightly controlled style, where the oak supports, highlights and frames without ever masking the identity of the climats.

Notes de dégustation

  • Appearance : Bright ruby with cherry highlights, clear and luminous, suggesting elegant concentration and a vibrant core.
  • Nose : Precise bouquet of Morello cherry, raspberry and redcurrant, lifted by violet and peony. Hints of crushed leaf, fine spices and a touch of toasted oak, perfectly integrated, complete the picture.
  • Palate : Caressing attack, silky texture and resolved tannins with a fine grain. The limestone framework brings dynamic freshness, the red fruit pulses with precision, and the finish stretches long on a subtle saline note and a highly distinguished spicy imprint.

Température de service et conseils

Serve between 16 and 18°C in Burgundy-style glasses to showcase the bouquet and texture. A decant of about 1 hour reveals the aromatic fullness and smooths the structure. This 2023 shows well in its youth but will gain complexity with a few seasons of rest. Avoid too high serving temperatures to preserve the fruit drive and the mineral freshness that define this cuvée.

Accords mets et vin

  • Appetizers : Burgundian gougères, parsley-studded ham, mushroom puff pastries, served to hint at the fruit’s delicacy without weighing down the palate.
  • Starters : Époisses tart, herbed poultry terrine, eggs en cocotte with chanterelles that converse with the oak’s finesse.
  • Main courses : veal chop with morels, roast duck breast, beef bourguignon, fondue bourguignonne, venison with grand veneur sauce, rare beef fillet. The wine’s satiny texture embraces the pan juices and highlights the depth of the sauces.
  • Cheeses : Époisses at maturity, Langres, Brillat-Savarin fully aged, served slightly warmed to preserve aromatic clarity.
  • Desserts : thin morello cherry tart, lightly sweetened red fruit shortbread, to finish on a fruity note echoing the cuvée.

Moments de dégustation

This Gevrey-Chambertin is the ideal companion:

  • To celebrate an exceptional dinner where elegance prevails and every detail counts.
  • At a seasonal table centred on mushrooms, Bresse poultry and concentrated sauces.
  • As a refined gift for a Burgundy enthusiast seeking a pure, racé style.
