Description
Château Haut Peyraguet stands among the emblematic estates of Sauternes, celebrated for the finesse and consistency of its sweet wines. The 2012 vintage beautifully reflects the savoir-faire of this Premier Cru Classé, offering a remarkable harmony of aromatic richness, balance and purity.
Blend and Winemaking
Château Haut Peyraguet 2012 is crafted from a classic Sauternes blend: Sémillon (around 85%), Sauvignon Blanc (10%) and Muscadelle (5%). The grapes are handpicked in successive selective passes, ensuring only berries affected by Botrytis cinerea — the noble rot responsible for Sauternes’ signature concentration — are harvested. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, followed by 18 to 20 months of barrel aging, giving the wine its silky texture and great aromatic depth.
Tasting Notes
The robe is deep golden and brilliant. The nose opens with generous aromas of honey, dried apricot, exotic fruit and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is rich and smooth, perfectly balanced by lively acidity. Flavors of candied fruit and sweet spice lead into a long, elegant and refreshing finish. A true expression of Sauternes’ harmony between opulence and finesse.
Serving Temperature and Tasting Advice
Serve between 10 and 12°C to preserve freshness and fully reveal its aromatic bouquet. Enjoy young for its brightness and vitality, or age for a decade or more to discover deeper notes of dried fruits, honey and saffron.
