Description

Located in Bommes, at the heart of the Sauternes region, Château Sigalas Rabaud is a family estate renowned for the purity and delicacy of its wines. Classified as Premier Cru in 1855, it is the smallest of the Sauternes crus classés — and one of the most refined. The 2014 vintage perfectly illustrates the house style: a luminous, precise and perfectly balanced sweet wine.

Blend and Winemaking

Château Sigalas Rabaud 2014 is composed primarily of Sémillon (about 85%) and Sauvignon Blanc (15%). Harvesting is carried out manually in successive selective passes, ensuring only grapes affected by Botrytis cinerea (noble rot) are chosen. Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, followed by 18 to 20 months of aging in the estate’s cellars. This meticulous artisanal process preserves the freshness of the fruit while developing the wine’s depth and aromatic complexity.

Tasting Notes

The color is a brilliant gold, shimmering with light. The nose reveals refined aromas of honey, dried apricot, acacia flowers, vanilla and citrus peel. On the palate, it is smooth and silky, with vibrant acidity balancing its natural sweetness. Flavors of candied fruit and delicate spice unfold into a long, elegant and slightly toasted finish.

Serving Temperature and Tasting Advice

Serve between 10 and 12°C to fully reveal its aromatic complexity. Enjoy young for its energy and freshness, or cellar for 10 to 20 years to discover its deeper, evolved notes of saffron, nuts and caramelized fruit.

Food Pairings

Château Sigalas Rabaud 2014 pairs beautifully with:

  • Aperitifs: seared foie gras, roasted nuts, truffle canapés.
  • Starters: mushroom risotto, roasted lobster, grilled langoustines.
  • Main Courses: roasted poultry, veal tagine with dried fruits, noble fish with sauce.
  • Cheeses: Roquefort, Bleu d’Auvergne, aged Comté.
  • Desserts: pear tart, honey sabayon, crème brûlée.

Occasions

A symbol of elegance and delicacy, Château Sigalas Rabaud 2014 is the perfect choice for festive meals, gourmet dinners or intimate tastings. Its silky texture, fresh finish and precision make it a wine of pure emotion, balancing generosity with refinement.
