Description
A distinctive expression of Aÿ craftsmanship, the Deutz, Brut Rosé Demi-bouteille is presented in a 37,5 cl format in a case, designed to highlight moments where subtlety matters more than ostentation. This Champagne AOC, made using the traditional method, showcases the character of Pinot Noir, supported by a measured share of Chardonnay depending on the vintage blend. Approximately 36 months’ ageing on the lees gives the cuvée a delicate breadth and persistent effervescence that recalls the precision of a pen stroke. Brut dosage, clear balance and red fruit expression all contribute to a tasting that feels both spontaneous and refined. This half-bottle format is aimed at enthusiasts seeking a hedonistic interlude to share between two or to slip into a pairing of delicate dishes. Contains sulfites.
Blend and vinification
The cuvée is built mainly on Pinot Noir from the terroirs of the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne, to which a measured proportion of Chardonnay can be added to bring tension and brightness. The rosé colour is obtained by the controlled addition of a still red Pinot Noir wine from old vines in Aÿ, preserving the finesse of the fruit. Traditional bottle fermentation, secondary fermentation and around 36 months ageing on the lees, riddling, then brut dosage to preserve the wine’s drive and frank structure. This approach, faithful to Deutz’s signature, sculpts a lively, expressive profile with great purity of execution.
Tasting notes
- Appearance: Luminous pink with pronounced highlights, crossed by a fine, regular effervescence that draws a delicate bead.
- Nose: A direct bouquet of cherry, currant, strawberry and raspberry, punctuated by a note of pomegranate and a floral touch that brings freshness and distinction.
- Palate: A lively, caressing attack, a broad mid-palate of crunchy red fruit, balanced by precise acidity and an extended, delicately tangy finish that invites the next sip.
Serving temperature and advice
Serve between 8 and 9 °C in tulip glasses to honour both the effervescence and the aromatic expression. Open the half-bottle a few minutes before serving to let the bouquet unfurl, without excessive airing. Store away from light, bottle on its side, in a cool, steady cellar. This format is designed for attentive tasting, as a prelude at the table or a poetic touch at the end of an afternoon. Contains sulfites.
Food pairings
- Aperitifs: sun-dried tomato tartlets, light gougères, tuna sashimi.
- Starters: beef carpaccio, cured salmon, sea bass ceviche with pink peppercorns.
- Main courses: duck with red fruit, roasted lamb chop, poultry with a simply reduced jus.
- Cheeses: Chaource, Brillat-Savarin, creamy faisselle with fine herbs.
- Desserts: lightly sweetened strawberry charlotte, red fruit pavlova.
