Description

Heir to a history dating back to 1549, the Château de Beaucastel Blanc 2023 embodies the majestic expression of a great white from Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC. This cuvée, crafted with patience and precision, is aimed at lovers seeking a wine that is both generous and finely cut, capable of lighting up a gastronomic table or a suspended moment. Its abundant aromatic profile, where white flowers, white-fleshed fruits and candied citrus intertwine, pairs with a broad texture that is stretched by a straight, salivating mineral thread. Beaucastel here signs a wine of place and light, whose depth reveals itself over the tasting, with that honeyed touch and saline energy that extend the pleasure long after the last sip.

Assemblage et vinification

From demanding organic farming, the wine is made mainly from Roussanne (80%) with the support of Grenache Blanc (15%), completed by Picardan, Clairette and Bourboulenc (5%). Roussanne, a noble variety, brings texture, noble bitterness and aromatic complexity, while the other varieties add lift, straightness and brightness. The ageing, carried out with goldsmith precision, lasts 8 months, with about 30% in oak barrels to refine the matter, and 70% in stainless-steel tanks to preserve fruity brilliance and floral purity. This dual register, harmonious wood and protective steel, sculpts a subtle balance between tactile richness and freshness, ensuring a silky mouthfeel, sapid persistence and a clear reading of the 2023 vintage.

Notes de dégustation

  • Appearance: Pale golden with bright reflections, clear and shiny, evoking a morning sun over the garrigue after the dew. The visual density signals generous substance, while the crystalline brightness promises an appetising tension.
  • Nose: Complex bouquet combining white flowers and vine peach, underscored by juicy pear, candied citrus and a fine spring honey. Notes of fresh almond and mild spices unfold with aeration, adding distinction and depth without weight.
  • Palate: Generous, enveloping attack, satin texture, precise fruity core. The mineral thread tightens the wine, prolongs the drive and signs a persistent finish edged with saline and honeyed echoes. The whole combines controlled opulence and chiselled freshness for a sensation of plenitude.

Température de service et conseils

Serve between 10 and 12°C in tulip-shaped glasses to enhance the aromatic range and texture. Opening the bottle a few minutes before service helps the floral and citrus notes to unfold. Store in a cellar in the dark, with stable humidity, bottle lying down. Thanks to its careful structure and balance between richness and tension, the drinking potential extends from 2024 to 2035, with increasing complexity expected over the years, notably on delicate dried fruit and acacia honey nuances.

Accords mets et vin

  • Aperitifs: just-seared langoustine bites, thin citrus tartlets, delicate gougères that highlight freshness and salinity.
  • Starters: sea bass carpaccio with zests, white asparagus with mousseline sauce, scallops pan-seared in brown butter.
  • Main courses: supreme of poultry with morels, roasted monkfish with pink peppercorns, creamy Parmesan risotto with lemon zest.
  • Cheeses: comté affiné, mountain tomme, delicately fruity sheep's cheese, served at temperature to enhance textures.
  • Desserts: lightly sweetened citrus confit entremets, pear-lemon almond tart, favouring balance over sweetness.

Moments de dégustation

This great southern white naturally finds its place during moments that call for grace and intensity:

  • To celebrate a precious occasion when a memorable gustatory emotion is sought.
  • During a gastronomic dinner where the cuisine is in tune with a wine that is ample, pure and precise.
  • As an exceptional gift to offer an informed enthusiast, receptive to great terroir whites.
