€77.38 /L
Yoichi Single Malt, the first whisky crafted at Nikka’s historic distillery on the coast of Hokkaido, embodies the authentic spirit of traditional Japanese whisky. Produced using time-honoured methods such as direct coal-fired distillation, it reveals a distinctive maritime character with delicate peat and remarkable balance. A blend of whiskies of various ages, this expression offers harmonious smoky, fruity and floral notes, showcasing the depth and precision of the Yoichi style.
Description
Founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky, Yoichi was established on the northern island of Hokkaido. Its seaside location, cool climate and rigorous winters shape whiskies with a marked, powerful personality—precise, mineral and elegantly peated. Traditional methods remain faithfully preserved, including direct coal-fired distillation, giving Yoichi whiskies their signature depth and intensity.
Blend and Production
Yoichi Single Malt is a meticulous blend of whiskies of different ages, all distilled in pot stills heated directly over coal fires. This rare technique enhances malt intensity and brings a richer, more robust aromatic structure. Maturation in a variety of oak casks (including ex-bourbon and re-charred barrels) adds finesse, complexity and a subtle toasted character.
