Description
From the southern Rhône Valley, the Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2023 - Cellier des Princes - Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC celebrates the generosity of Grenache and the nobility of a sun-drenched terroir. This cuvée is aimed at enthusiasts seeking a broad, structured wine, a deep red able to accompany great dining moments as well as quiet, suspended ones. Predominantly Grenache, with touches of Syrah and Mourvèdre, this wine unfolds an irresistible bouquet of red and black fruits enriched by the garrigue that whispers thyme, lavender and rosemary. Its ageing in concrete tanks pursues purity, the honesty of the fruit and a true expression of the vintage. Gold medal winner at the Féminalise 2023 and the Lyon Competition 2023, it stands as a contemporary classic: precise and vibrant, to enjoy now or cellar to gain complexity and depth.
Assemblage et vinification
The structure of this Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2023 is based on a blend of Grenache (90%), Syrah (5%) and Mourvèdre (5%), from old vines whose naturally low yields concentrate both body and aromas. Winemaking is traditional, with a maceration of 4 to 5 weeks at 28 to 30°C to gently extract colour, texture and aromatic complexity. The ageing of 8 to 12 months in concrete tanks preserves the freshness and brightness of the Grenache, without oaky masking, in order to faithfully convey the signature of the vintage and the terroir. At 14.5% alcohol, the cuvée presents a well-balanced profile where richness, suppleness and length harmonise.
Notes de dégustation
- Appearance: Deep ruby with dark glints, clear and luminous, announcing a fine density.
- Nose: Blackcurrant, plum and cherry mingle with garrigue aromas carried by lavender, thyme and rosemary. Notes of ripe dark fruit add volume and intensity.
- Palate: Generous attack, silky and polished tannins, a generous mid-palate on dark fruits, and a long, mouthwatering finish where dried herbs return and a subtle freshness stretches the sensation.
Température de service et conseils
Serve this Châteauneuf-du-Pape around 16 to 18°C in large glasses to fully open its aromatic palette. A gentle decanting in a carafe before serving can enhance the fruit expression and further soften the texture. Store bottles away from light, lying on their side, at a stable temperature. Drunk now, it offers persuasive generosity, and can be cellared for 5 to 8 years to reveal more complex tertiary nuances.
Accords mets et vin
- Starters: thick-sliced country terrine, poultry pâtés en croûte, garlic-sautéed mushrooms.
- Main courses: roasted meats with concentrated jus, lamb with rich jus, spice-glazed duck.
- Game: wild boar stew, saddle of venison, partridge with herbs de Provence, reduced sauces and short jus.
- Cheeses: matured tommes, aged comté, cantal between-age, matured brie, robust blue cheeses.
- Desserts: measured pairings with low-sugar dark chocolate or spiced poached pear, for aromatic resonance without excessive sweetness.
