Cihuatán Cinabrio 12 Years Old is an emblematic cuvée from the Cihuatán distillery, the only rum distillery in El Salvador. Inspired by Mayan culture and the symbolic Cinabrio hummingbird, this rum embodies the balance between tradition, elegance and aromatic richness.

Blending and production

This rum is crafted from locally grown pure sugarcane juice. After fermentation, distillation is carried out with precision to preserve aromatic finesse. Ageing takes place over 12 years in American oak barrels that previously held bourbon, bringing roundness, complexity and depth. Each cask is carefully selected to ensure a harmonious and consistent expression.

Tasting notes

Appearance: Deep amber with copper highlights.
Nose: Gourmand and expressive, marked by vanilla, caramel, dried fruits and subtle woody notes.
Palate: Round and velvety, with flavours of candied fruits, honey, gentle spices and a hint of cocoa.
Finish: Long, warm and elegantly woody, with lingering spicy notes.

Serving temperature and tasting advice

Best enjoyed between 18 and 20°C, served in a tulip glass or a dedicated rum tasting glass. Ideally tasted neat to appreciate its full complexity, or with a splash of water to open up the aromas.
