Resulting from an assembly of rare precision, Louis Roederer Collection 246 reveals the art of a brut AOC Champagne with fine bubbles, as delicate as lace. The structure combines the freshness of a perpetual reserve, the depth of oak-aged wines and the ripeness of the 2021 vintage. On the nose, ripe yellow fruit and candied lemon zest meet delicate toasted and saline hints. The palate is broad and creamy, stretching over chalky minerality and a pure, saline finish. Served at 10°C, this 75 cl boxed bottle makes a radiant aperitif and elevates seafood starters for a shareable moment of grace.

Description

An elegant three-part composition, Louis Roederer Collection 246 presents itself as an ode to precision, energy and balance. This non-vintage brut cuvée, offered here with its gift box, embodies the House spirit through a carefully orchestrated blend where caressing fruit meets chalky straightness and the depth of noble oak. Designed for lovers of the moment, it suits both intimate celebrations and large tables, bringing with each service the brightness of fine effervescence and the nobility of a silky texture. In the glass, the wine draws a vibrant texture, guided by an aerial salinity that marks the great Champagne terroirs. Its measured richness, lively freshness and precise length make it an ideal companion for aperitifs and seafood pairings, when you want a clear, subtle and intensely gastronomic experience. Collection 246 illustrates the contemporary vision of blended Champagne, a vision patiently built on continuity, exacting standards and mastery of balance.

Assemblage et vinification

Collection 246 is crafted around wines from the 2021 vintage, complemented by a perpetual reserve patiently assembled between 2012 and 2020, and by a selection of wood-aged wines matured between 2012 and 2017. This architecture gives the wine a nuanced identity, where immediate freshness, textural complexity and aromatic depth overlap. The classic Champagne grape varieties, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, come from three complementary districts, each contributing its signature: La Rivière in the Vallée de la Marne brings charming, pulpy fruit; La Montagne on the Montagne de Reims provides structure and length; while La Côte in the heart of the Côte des Blancs delivers chalky tension and verticality. A portion of the wines, aged in large oak foudres, sculpts the contours, rounds the edges and amplifies complexity without ever weighing down the palate. Partial malolactic fermentation refines the balance between acidity and texture, while a measured dosage preserves momentum and purity. Altogether, this composes a poised, broad and precise Champagne, faithful to the House's pursuit of harmony.

Notes de dégustation

  • Appearance : Bright yellow with golden highlights, crossed by a fine and continuous effervescence. The very fine bubbles form a delicate bead promising a caressing palate. The crystal clarity of the wine and the liveliness of the golden flashes evoke sun-warmed chalk, promising precise texture and lasting brilliance to the eye.
  • Nose : Expressive and nuanced, it opens on mirabelle plum, vineyard peach and nectarine, joined by candied lemon zest. In the background, toasted and vanilla notes unfold, with an iodized touch and a hint of lightly toasted dried fruit. The whole breathes just-ripe maturity, without excess, composing a broad bouquet where fruit entwines with echoes of noble oak.
  • Palate : The attack is supple and luminous, immediately followed by a creamy texture with balanced liveliness. The texture, edged by élevage, glides effortlessly, supported by a saline mineral thread. The balance of fruit, structure and freshness extends into a long, clean and sapid finish, recalling yellow fruit pulp, fresh chalk and a discreet spicy return.

Serving temperature and recommendations

To reveal the fullness of its structure, serve Collection 246 at 10°C in tulip or tasting glasses that promote bubble ascent and concentrate the bouquet. Allow a few minutes of aeration after opening so the reserve can unveil its complexity and the iodized and toasted notes can harmonise with the fruit. Store the bottle cool and away from light, and serve gently, without haste, to preserve the precision of the effervescence and the balance of the saline finish.

Food pairings

  • Aperitifs : lemon cream tartlets with candied zest, Comté gougères, lemony fish rillettes.
  • Starters : fine Claire oysters, scallop carpaccio with lemon caviar, sea bream tartare with olive oil and fleur de sel.
  • Main courses : sole meunière, roasted poultry with a light jus, asparagus risotto with Parmesan shavings.
  • Cheeses : fresh goat cheese, lightly aged tomme, old Cantal served with a touch of acacia honey.
  • Desserts : thin peach tart, vanilla-praline entremet, lemon-almond shortbread with light meringue.

Louis Roederer Collection 246 takes its place at chosen moments, when attention to detail meets the desire to share. Its precision and grace make it a Champagne with character, both welcoming and refined, that magnifies dishes without overpowering them.

  • To celebrate a refined event with a luminous effervescence and a finish of great purity.
