Hailing from the Fuées hillside, in direct continuation with Les Bonnes Mares, the Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées 2024 from Louis Jadot unfolds a masterful interpretation of Pinot Noir. Stony clay-silica soils, an east-facing aspect and a patient 18-month barrel ageing sculpt a velvet-textured red where violet and delicate spice meet precise energy. Filigreed tannins, fresh length and excellent cellaring potential to accompany delicate dishes, from duck to pigeon, with poise and grace.

Description

Within the chain of Chambolle-Musigny Premier Crus, Les Fuées occupy a special place, echoing the myth of Les Bonnes Mares whose limestone vein and breath they extend. On this higher, east-facing slope, the Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées 2024 from Domaine Louis Jadot asserts a chiselled personality that marries aromatic intensity with a silky texture. This wine is aimed at discerning enthusiasts seeking a Burgundy red able to illuminate a fine dining table without overpowering it, for those who want a Pinot Noir both graceful and authoritative, precise in its fruit and long in its finish. It solves the eternal equation between delicacy and structure, delivering a caressing mouthfeel, subtle aromas of violet and spice, and a depth that will gain from time. Its signature, all lace and poise, is rooted in a terroir of marls and siliceous sands dotted with hard stones, which bring tension and uprightness to a ripe material. On opening, the wine charms with its immediate radiance, then unfolds a more complex fabric, inviting conversation, deliberate slowness and the art of shared tasting.

Blend and winemaking

Made exclusively from Pinot Noir grown on stony clay-silica soils, this Premier Cru benefits from steady ripening and careful picking. The harvest, rigorously selected, is fermented in vats for 3 to 4 weeks to extract colour, aromas and structure with a respect for the fruit. Punch-downs and pumpovers are carried out gently to preserve the silkiness, a genuine Chambolle hallmark. Elevage then continues for 18 months in oak barrels, enough time to polish the tannins, refine the texture and subtly integrate spicy oak notes. This cellar patience, at the heart of Louis Jadot’s know-how, never forces the barrel but accompanies the wine’s breathing until harmony is reached. The 2024 vintage emerges structured, vibrant and serene, ready to seduce in its youth while promising a magnificent evolution in the cellar.

Tasting notes

  • Colour : Bright ruby with garnet highlights, clear and deep, announcing controlled concentration and a supple texture.
  • Nose : Expressive bouquet of violet and peony, black cherry, crushed raspberry and currant, lifted by fine spices, liquorice, a hint of undergrowth and a mineral touch that extends the perfume.
  • Palate : A caressing entry, a dense and precise mid-palate, satin tannins that glide without weight, sapid freshness and a persistent finish on dried flower, Morello cherry, gentle pepper and delicate salinity. Great promise of development towards old rose and truffle.

Serving temperature and tips

Serve between 15 and 16°C in large glasses to reveal the floral spectrum and the lace of the tannins. Aeration of 30 to 45 minutes will highlight the cru’s depth without altering its natural grace. Store in a cool, dark cellar, ideally around 12°C with stable humidity. This Premier Cru has a cellaring potential of around 20 years, during which the fruit will complexify, gaining notes of old rose, blond tobacco and undergrowth, while the structure will integrate into a discreet creaminess.

Food pairings

  • Aperitifs : delicate canapés, fine poultry rillettes, forest tartlets, mushroom puff pastries.
  • Starters : knife-cut veal tartare, beef carpaccio with mild herbs, light game consommé, perfect egg with chanterelles.
  • Main courses : pink duck, roasted pigeon, woodcock, veal cut with reduced jus, mushroom risotto, gently seasoned feathered game.
  • Cheeses : Brillat-Savarin, Cîteaux, young Époisses, moderately aged Comté, soft low-salt tommes.
  • Desserts : lightly sweetened thin red-fruit tart, poached pear with gentle spices, pairing of dark chocolate and red berries.

Occasions to enjoy

This Premier Cru is at its most expressive when it accompanies chosen moments where every detail matters.

  • To honour a gourmet dinner where conversation and culinary precision play off one another.
  • During a tasting among enthusiasts, to explore the expression of a major Chambolle climat.
  • As an exceptional gift, destined for a cellar that cherishes the grace of Pinot Noir.
